Traditional Chinese Craftsmanship – A Creative Workshop Series (Term 1)

In Term 1, Learn Chinese Perth invites your child to discover the beauty of traditional Chinese arts through a series of hands-on craft workshops, each paired with cultural storytelling and gentle language introduction.

Each week, students will explore a new element of Chinese craftsmanship, creating beautiful, meaningful objects inspired by centuries-old traditions.

✨ Silk Massage Hammers – soft, vibrant wellness tools inspired by traditional Chinese self-care practices

✨ Song Brocade Earrings – elegant pieces crafted with shimmering brocade patterns once used in royal garments

✨ Classic Chinese Dangling Earrings – handmade earrings echoing the elegance of traditional Chinese jewellery

✨ Mother-of-Pearl Jewellery – inlaid decorations using lustrous shells, recalling ancient decorative techniques

✨ Marbled Silk Scarves – beautiful scarves created with water marbling techniques, where ink dances across silk

✨ Velvet Flower Making (Ronghua) – colourful velvet blossoms once worn in royal courts, now crafted by students

✨ Creative Dumplings – hands-on session folding dumplings in different shapes while learning their symbolism

✨ Lacquer Fans (Qìshàn) – by popular request, this crowd-favourite returns with marbled paint on folding fans

✨ Chinese Knot Weaving – a returning favourite where students learn to weave lucky knots using red and coloured threads

Each session includes:

🎨 Create & take home: A new craft made by hand using authentic materials

📖 Cultural insights: Fun stories about the origins and symbolism behind each craft

🗣️ Language moments: Simple Chinese words and phrases related to the theme

📅 Schedule:

9 sessions across Term 1 (final weeks to be confirmed based on the school calendar)

Every Monday afternoon, 3:15pm–4:30pm

💰Fee: $280 per student (all materials included)
